Privacy Policy

Updated 14 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-14

TECH BROS operates GetDirection and its FUNAAB subdomain. This notice explains information used by the service and your choices. Contact contacttechbros2025@gmail.com for privacy questions. We do not sell your personal data.

1. Information we receive

For an account, we receive your email, profile information and account identifier; Supabase handles authentication credentials. We store the policy versions acknowledged at sign-up and a database timestamp. Contributions can include route instructions, fares, place names and coordinates, photos, comments, confirmations, reports and moderation records.

Using the website can generate technical information such as requests, IP addresses, browser details and security or error logs at our hosting and service providers. Browser storage can hold session information, preferences, recent searches, saved journeys and an identifier used by certain feedback features.

If you use an AI or photo feature, the request can include your message, journey information or image. Voice features use the speech capability available on your browser or device; that provider may process speech, and the resulting text is used by the selected feature.

2. Location, camera and public content

Location and camera features ask for browser permission where required. Navigation may read location repeatedly while live walking guidance is active; a starting-point lookup is different from live navigation. You can stop navigation or revoke permission in your browser. Turning off location does not stop you searching by name.

Coordinates explicitly submitted with a place or route can be stored and displayed. There is no promise that every location use stays solely on your device: lookups or selected feature requests can send coordinates to the services that fulfil them.

Submitted route and venue photos, place details, public profile names, comments and route contributions may be visible to other users. Photos in public storage can be accessible by direct link. Remove private information before uploading; image files can contain embedded metadata. Reports sent for moderation and support are intended for the team, not for publication.

3. Why we use information

We use account and contribution information to provide requested features, publish useful route information and administer accounts. Necessary account processing supports the service agreement. Security, abuse prevention, moderation and proportionate service improvement support legitimate interests, subject to your rights. Legal obligations may require certain records.

Where a feature relies on consent, such as a browser permission or optional notification subscription, you can decline or withdraw it. Acknowledging this Privacy Policy is not consent to every processing activity or to marketing. We do not use the sign-up checkbox as marketing permission.

4. Services and recipients

Supabase provides authentication, the database and file storage. Vercel provides hosting and website performance or usage measurement. Configured email and notification services deliver requested account messages and alerts. Map, geocoding and place-search services receive the requests needed for features that use them; the FUNAAB map also uses our own campus directory and map data.

AI-assisted features can send supplied text or images to the configured AI provider; the current server integrations include Groq. Use of a browser speech service depends on your device. Do not submit confidential information to these tools.

Opening WhatsApp shares information with WhatsApp under its own policy. Sending a report also shares your WhatsApp contact details and message with our support team. The widget prepares text locally before you send it and does not automatically submit a support report. Selar processes contribution payments; GetDirection does not receive your card number or payment PIN through its support widget.

Authorised team members and service providers may access information to operate and protect the service. We may disclose information when lawfully required. Providers may process data outside Nigeria; applicable transfer requirements and safeguards must be observed. Their policies also explain their own processing.

5. Storage and retention

Account records are kept while needed to provide your account. Contributions are retained while useful to the community, subject to correction, moderation and applicable deletion rights. Support conversations, logs and backups have different retention needs; contact us for information about a particular record. We do not promise immediate removal from backups or from third-party systems.

Deleting an account does not itself clear browser storage, screenshots, recipient messages or every publicly shared copy. You can clear local site data in your browser. Storage ownership or database relationships can prevent automatic deletion; support can help resolve a failed deletion and requests concerning public content.

We use access controls and authenticated operations to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Do not share passwords or payment credentials with support.

6. Your choices and rights

You can edit available profile details in settings, revoke device permissions, disable notifications and clear local site data. Account deletion is available in the main account settings where supported; if it fails or you cannot access it, contact support. Use a privacy request for information or content not covered by those controls.

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, a copy, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. We may need to verify your identity using proportionate information. Do not send identity documents unless we explain why they are necessary.

Email contacttechbros2025@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy request” and describe what you need. You can also raise a concern with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng. Withdrawing optional permissions does not affect processing already lawfully carried out.

7. Children and updates

The service is not designed to collect children’s personal information without any approval required by law. A guardian can contact support about a child’s account or content. Public venue searches do not require creating an account.

We will update this notice when features or processing change. The published date and version identify the current notice. Significant changes should be brought to your attention; new optional processing may need a separate choice.
